My Story: 15 Years Behind the Wheel, Now Stranded Without One
Hello, and thank you for taking a moment to read my story. My name is Michael and for the last 15 years, my life has been defined by the open road. As a cab driver, I wasn't just driving from point A to point B; I was connecting with my community, sharing stories, and earning an honest living one mile at a time.
On August 1st, 2025, that chapter closed unexpectedly when the company I drove for shut its doors. In an instant, I lost not only my job but also my sole means of transportation—the taxi cab that was my lifeline.
Now, as a retired older gentleman, I find myself in a difficult spot. Public transportation is limited where I live, and finding new employment at my age presents its own challenges. But I am not a man who is ready to stop working or contributing. I have a strong will and a strong work ethic, but my options are few.
That’s why I’ve set my sights on a new path: starting my own journey with Uber. It’s a way for me to use the skills I’ve honed for over a decade—knowing the streets, providing safe passage, and offering a friendly face to those who need a ride—to once again earn my own way and regain my independence.
There’s just one significant hurdle: I have no car to do it.
This is where I am humbly asking for your help. The cost of a reliable, used vehicle that also meets Uber's requirements is a mountain I cannot climb on my own right now.
