I'm at my wit's end with this car honestly. I drive a 2020 BMW X5 that I bought pre-owned and it's been great except for this one thing, the battery keeps dying way faster than it should. The first time I thought maybe it was just old, second time I blamed the heat, but now I'm on number three and starting to think maybe I'm the problem. Took it to a specialist who did some testing and said everything looks fine electrically, no parasitic drain or anything, but he asked what kind of battery I'd been using and when I told him he just shook his head. Apparently these newer luxury cars need specific types with different technology, not just whatever fits in the tray. He mentioned AGM and some other terms I wasn't familiar with so I went home and did some searching to find out more information about what actually works for these cars. Came across a guide that explains the different requirements for vehicles with start-stop systems and all the electronics, which my car has plenty of. Makes sense now why the standard ones kept failing, they just aren't built for the way this car uses power. Going to get the right one this time and hope that solves it. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is dealing with the same frustration.
