DIY vs professional electrical repair — when to try it yourself and when to go to a p

Hey everyone, I recently tried fixing a blown fuse in my car’s dashboard myself, thinking it’d be a simple thing. Long story short, I ended up with half the lights flickering and had to spend hours figuring out what I did wrong. Now I’m wondering, at what point do you just admit it’s time to call a professional for electrical work instead of trying to DIY? I don’t want to cause more damage, but I also don’t want to rely on a shop for every little thing.
