Hi Everyone!
I have been using Heroku to deploy my applications for a long time. However, I decided to switch from Heroku to another CSP for different reasons. Yes, I am moving apps off Heroku and trying to decide between DigitalOcean App Platform and Back4app. First of all, if I talk about DigitalOcean App Platform, it is an affordable Heroku alternative with one-click connectivity to managed DBs such as Redis, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Simple vertical scaling and cheaper bandwidth also make App Platform a reliable alternative to Heroku.
On the contrary, I also found Back4app's CaaS offerings to be a reliable Heroku replacement. With Back4app's Dockerfile support, you can deploy with almost no setup, similar to Heroku, but without being boxed in. By the same token, Back4app replaces Heroku-style add-ons with a native real-time database and API layer, reducing external service dependencies. Another key highlight that makes Back4app one of the leading Heroku alternatives is its free tier. Yes, you can begin using Back4app CaaS without paying anything or inserting credit card details.
Railway and Render are on my radar too, but I am unclear on their pros and cons. What have your experiences been with them? Besides, you can also share your experiences with Back4app and the App Platform.
So, what do you say?
