Tips for avoiding burnout when handling both sourcing and account management
#1
I’ve been pulling double duty — finding candidates and managing client relationships — and it’s starting to wear me down. I love the variety, but I’ve noticed I’m more tired than usual and not as excited about the wins. I don’t want to burn out, but I also can’t really hand off part of my role. How do you keep your energy up when the workload is always this high?

That’s a classic full desk problem. I hit the wall about a year in and realized I needed more boundaries around my workday. I came across this piece on full desk recruiting that pointed out the mental toll of switching between sourcing and client calls. Now, I build in “recharge” moments — even a 10-minute walk between tasks helps reset my head. Also, I’ve learned to give myself permission to push non-urgent tasks to the next day instead of grinding late into the night.

Burnout’s not just for recruiters — I’ve seen it happen in teaching, retail, even gaming. Usually it sneaks up when you’re always “on.” Having a couple of daily rituals that are just for you, no matter what’s going on, can really help keep you grounded.
