Need taxi options in Jodhpur for travelers with cameras and drones
#1
Greetings to all lovers of Indian culture! I’m planning a solo trip next month from Jodhpur to the Khatu Shyam Ji Temple, bringing along professional cameras and a drone because I want to film the architecture and local villages along the way. Buses or trains with transfers are a risky option for me — hauling a huge photo backpack through crowds and dust is a sure way to break or lose something in the chaos. Can anyone advise if it’s realistic to find a driver in Jodhpur who speaks decent English and has a clean car, and who wouldn’t mind making stops at scenic spots like Nimrana Palace or Shri Mahavirji Temple, without demanding extra payment for every minute spent during shooting?

Also, is it reasonable to expect local taxi drivers to offer fair rates, or will they, seeing a foreigner with expensive gear, immediately quote prices as if renting a helicopter, regardless of the actual travel time?

Local taxi drivers often like to haggle and may forget to mention extra charges for tolls or air conditioning. This usually leads to unpleasant disputes, as we experienced. But we stopped dealing with that after we decided not to guess the actual Jodhpur to Khatu Shyam distance with all the fort detours and booked a transfer through GetTransfer instead. The great thing about this service is that you can choose your car and driver in advance based on reviews. You can also see the final price and list all the stops you need for photos right in the booking. The driver meets you personally and helps with your bags. You can travel comfortably with Wi-Fi and not worry about negotiating prices. Btw, are you planning to film the Khatu Shyam Temple during the evening сeremony? I've heard the lighting there is incredible.
